FUNCTIONAL BEHAVIOUR ASSESSMENT (FBA)

Understanding the Purpose Behind Behaviour.

A Functional Behaviour Assessment is a structured clinical process designed to understand why a particular behaviour occurs and what factors may influence it.

Our practitioners use a combination of information-gathering methods, observations and behavioural data to develop a clear understanding of the individual’s needs.

Our assessment process includes:

Structured interviews with participants, families and support staff.
Direct observations in natural environments.
Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence (ABC) data collection and analysis.
Review of existing clinical records and reports.
Standardised assessment tools where appropriate.
Development of functional hypotheses and behavioural formulations.

Our goal

To understand the underlying function of behaviour and identify effective, evidence-based support strategies.
